Armed Forces Day event in Nuneaton canceled – but you can still celebrate at home this way

The Armed Forces Day celebrations have been canceled in Nuneaton – but you can still mark the special day.

For the second year running, the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council says it will not be able to host Armed Forces Day events this Saturday (June 26) due to the pandemic.

But the council will still pay tribute and hoist the flag in front of Nuneaton Town Hall on Armed Forces Day for the entire Week of the Armed Forces, which began Monday June 21 and continues through Sunday June 27.

Councilor Samuel Croft, Town Hall Cabinet Member for Finance and Enterprise, said, “We have a fantastic military legacy in the district and the Armed Forces Day flag will proudly fly as a token of respect for all on top of town hall for these dedicated people who make our country have served so bravely.

“While it is unfortunate that our usual district events cannot take place due to current restrictions, I am delighted that we can still celebrate the day this way and I hope that you can get involved in other ways to show your support. “

The town hall encourages residents to post a “greeting picture” on social media or to fly their own flag or banner on Armed Forces Day.

There is also the official Armed Forces Day website here for more information on how to get involved.
