Local artist creates a mural in honor of the military | KSNF / KODE
GRANBY, Mon – An outdoor mural in Granby will soon pay tribute to our nation’s armed forces.
Work on the mural began on Thursday at the town’s meetinghouse.
It is being completed by local artist Sandra Pemberton who has worked on other patriotic murals over the past year.
The Granby guides found out about their work and contacted them with the idea of the project. Pemberton agreed to carry out the project and met with the city guides to create a blueprint.
She says this mural is a great way to thank those who served in our military.
“I think it’s important now that people remember that we have something in our country to be proud of and hopefully bring people together,” said Pemberton, who has been on hers since she was 15 Passion for art concentrates old.
KODE / KSN news photographer Ethan Tripoli asked Pemberton, “How do you feel – to be asked to do this? How was that for you personally? “
Pemberton replied, “It’s amazing. I love what i do. I don’t want to do anything else. To be able to be apart from it – both just to help, to say “thank you”, and to make a statement – but also doing what I love to make a living is pretty astonishing.”
Pemberton hopes to have the mural completed by March – until working with good weather conditions.
