Stay alert to conspiracy to open Padma Bridge, PM urges armed forces
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged the country’s armed forces to remain vigilant amid information of a conspiracy linked to the inauguration of the much-anticipated Padma Bridge.
“Recent fire incidents in parts of the country, including Sitakunda, may all be part of a conspiracy to thwart the celebrations,” the prime minister said during celebrations marking the 36th anniversary of the Special Security Force (SSF).
“We must ensure the safety of the important infrastructures in the country,” she added.
She also said, “Professor Dr. Yunus even conspired against the construction of the Padma Bridge for the post of managing director of a bank.”
The PM went on to say: “I came to build the country, not my own destiny. No false accusations will be tolerated.”
On June 25, Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the longest bridge in the country.
To mark the occasion, the Awami League will hold a huge joyful rally on both sides of the 6.15km bridge. Various events also take place throughout the day.
The Prime Minister commended the SSF for carrying out its duties with the utmost competence, sincerity, responsibility and dedication.
She also stressed the importance of working with people rather than creating distance between them.
SSF Director General Maj Gen Md Majibur Rahman spoke about the force’s various activities during the event. He also said that with the addition of the new VIP protective gear, SSF has become one of the most modern and modern forces in the world.
