MINERAL WELLS – After being canceled in 2020, the 48th annual West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition will return to the Exhibition Center on Butcher Bend Road Tuesday through Saturday.

Usually held in July, this year’s fair has been brought forward to June by the organizers. It will feature truck pulls, ATV races, cute baby and junior kings competitions, live entertainment, cattle shows, carnival rides and other attractions.

Russ Collins, first vice president of the trade fair committee, said the final preparations for the new schedule had gone well, particularly with regards to weather and temperature forecasts. The hot weather in July was one of the reasons for the decision of the trade fair board to move the trade fair from July to June, he said. While daytime temperatures will be similar, Collins said the afternoon and evening June dates should have much more comfortable temperatures.

Collins said many of the 4-H animal youth projects will not be able to participate this year due to the change in dates, but officials hope to have them again in the future. However, the trade fair board still wants to attract young people to the trade fair, so they will do it “Jackpot” Shows for pigs and cows. This year there will also be a regular horse show with barrel races and other activities, as well as educational animal exhibits and exhibitions.

The organizers are now inviting elementary and middle school students who have carried out school projects this year to bring them to the fair and to set them up during the fair. Students can register on the trade fair website at wvinterstatefair.org. Students who bring displays to the fair will get free entry, like 4-H students in previous years who had exhibits at the fair, he said.

Daily admission to the fair on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is USD 9 per person aged 3 and over and USD 10 on Friday and Saturday. There will also be two special recording days. Tuesday will “Seniors Day” with an entry of $ 5 for seniors aged 60 and over.
